Human Values

Human values are the moral principles that guide us to consider the human aspect when interacting with others.

These values encompass a wide array of qualities, including respect, acceptance, consideration, appreciation, active listening, openness, affection, empathy, and love for fellow human beings.

Embracing these human values allows individuals to demonstrate their ethical principles, such as justice, integrity, non-violence, and a commitment to avoid causing harm, even in challenging situations or crises.

The presence of human values creates a positive and emotional uplift, strengthening the foundation of moral values. They facilitate harmonious coexistence and individual contributions to peace, fostering an environment where people can live together in concord.

Human values serve as a valuable tool for managing interpersonal relationships and promoting peace, especially in tense situations, providing guidance and support to navigate difficult circumstances.

This situation does not align with the concept of “science/technology without humanity,” which is considered one of the seven sins according to MK Gandhi. It is important to note that the blame does not lie solely on technology. The institution or court involved could have intervened and made an exception. This case exemplifies “Goal Displacement,” wherein adhering strictly to the rule is perceived as more crucial than considering the intended purpose of the rule.

As an example of Science without humanity + commerce without morality, you can mention Bhopal Gas tragedy and Kodaikanal mercury poisoning
